Sweet and Spicy Plum Bao Buns with Crispy Pork Belly

Ingredients

  • MINOR’S® Sweet and Spicy Plum Sauce

  • Bao buns, steamed 

  • Carrots, peeled and sliced

  • Cucumbers, Sliced 

  • Cilantro, picked

  • Scallions, sliced 

  • Sesame oil 

  • Rice vinegar 

  • Sesame seeds, toasted

Build It

  1. Place pork belly in a hotel pan. Pour MINOR’S® Sweet and Spicy Plum Sauce over pork belly and rub to evenly distribute. Cover with plastic wrap and let marinate overnight.
  2. Preheat oven to 300°F. Place pork belly on a rack over foil-lined hotel pan and roast until tender.
  3. Press pork belly with weights overnight.
  4. Place MINOR’S® Sweet and Spicy Plum Sauce in a small sauce pot. Slice pork belly and deep fry until golden brown. Using a pastry brush, cover each slice with MINOR’S® Sweet and Spicy Plum Sauce. Alternatively, toss hot pork belly in a bowl with the sauce.
  5. In a bowl, combine the carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, scallions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt.
  6. To build, place a piece of hot, sauced pork belly in each bao bun. Top each bun with cucumber salad and serve.
